Robin Jessome, born in Nova Scotia, Canada in 1980 grew up in a musical environment. He was introduced, by his father, to many musical styles from an early age. In high school he started playing the trombone, encouraged by teacher Mark Bezanson.

Currently working towards a M.Mus degree at the University of Toronto and studying trombone with William Carn and Terry Promane; Robin maintains an active performance schedule and can be found in various settings and venues around Toronto. The move to Toronto comes after spending two years in Victoria, BC. While Robin's wife Natalie completed her studies, Robin performed often and debuted the west-coast incarnation of the Robin Jessome Creative Orchestra, as well as co-founded The Spontaneous Music Collective: SPONNICK.

Robin has been leader or co-leader of several ensembles including his ongoing Robin Jessome Trio and Quartet, the Robin Jessome Creative Orchestra and the recently founded Blunt Object. Freelance work includes the Hermann's Monday Night Big Band, Paul Tynan Nonet, the Maritime Jazz Orchestra, and the Bobby Selvaggio Octet. Robin has also worked with artists including Chucho Valdés, Kenny Wheeler, Phil Nimmons, Bob Brookmeyer, Hugh Fraser, Dave Restivo, Brad Turner, Mike Murley, Conrad Herwig, John Hollenbeck, Julian Argüelles, David Braid, Lew Soloff and Ian McDougall.

Robin has had the privilege of attending the 2006 Banff Jazz Composer's Workshop and the Banff Jazz Orchestra Workshop, premiering and recording new compositions and working with such luminaries as Chucho Valdés and Hugh Fraser. Other highlights of Robin's education were the 2003 Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead Program, and being selected as a runner-up in the Frank Rosolino jazz trombone competition held in Helsinki, Finland as part of the International Trombone Festival 2003.

Robin attended St. Francis Xavier University where he received his B.Mus in jazz studies. While at St.FX, he studied and worked with some great musicians who helped focus his playing and composing.
